Dallas Summer Musicals – Cinderella

Cinderella is certainly the Dallas’ belle of the ball this summer. It was nearly a full house for the opening curtain of Dallas Summer Musical’s limited engagement of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Old and young alike donned iconic blue gowns to see this 2013 Tony Award-Winning Broadway Musical.

The lively musical adaptation of Cinderella was (thankfully) a departure from the Cinderella you may already know by heart. There’s no iconic blue dress and Cinderella’s hair isn’t even blonde. This is not your animated Cinderella by any means. This fresh performance was both hilarious and entertaining. Even with an unpredictable detour from the Disney storyline, my 7 year old loved every minute. No worries, the classic story elements are there to satisfy the purists, but add in a a few more modern surprises along the way.
